Why Build a News Agent?
Why build a news agent when any off-the-shelf consumer AI chat assistant can fetch the news?
First, I have multiple favorite sources, and they are not the same ones those assistants typically prioritize. Some are paywalled, and you need something like Perplexity to get through them. There are also threads I lurk on X and Reddit, and you need Grok to reliably get through those.
More importantly, I often fall into a URL clicking rabbit hole when reading online and lose track of time and context. Kindle is the closest I can get to an offline paper experience. And Obsidian, because it is accessible anywhere and still distraction free.
