Amazon Machine Learning University Goes Public

Amazon Machine Learning University

Amazon founded its in-house Machine Learning University (MLU) in 2016 to train and raise the bar for internal ML practitioners. The program was built on the belief that demand for ML expertise far outweighs supply, and that the field isn’t limited to individuals with advanced science degrees or technical backgrounds.

As a 2018 MLU bootcamp graduate and current MLU teacher, I can’t recommend the program highly enough. The curriculum covers everything from the fundamentals to advanced topics, taught by Amazon’s own ML experts.

Now, Amazon has made these previously employee-only courses available to the public for free. The initial launch includes three accelerated online courses covering natural language processing, computer vision, and tabular data, with plans to expand to nine additional in-depth courses. The goal is to lower barriers for software developers, students, and other builders who want to get started with practical machine learning.
